Title: Accounting Manager

Employee Status: Regular Full Time

Work From Home Option: Hybrid - 2 Days/Week (40% Remote)

Job Overview:

Manages a team of Senior Accountants and is accountable for conducting effective performance management. Balances workloads to meet objectives and goals of the Accounting department. Directs operations for strategic initiatives and serves as a primary point of contact for internal stakeholders. Responsible for work across multiple areas of accounting including ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), control/reconciliation of accounts and records (balance sheet, P&L, bank accounts, etc.) and financial reporting for both internal and external audiences.

Essential Functions:

• Manages the monthly close process for the primary NYRA company (20+ departments) including preparing and/or reviewing departmental budget-to-actual and year-over-year variance analysis, NYRA company consolidation, and other reporting. Regularly presents financial reporting and analysis to department management and supports senior accountants in financial presentations as appropriate.
• Develops and implements procedures to align with department and company objectives.
• Manages team workloads effectively to ensure efficient workflow and optimal team performance.
• Leads the preparation and review of financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance reports for the primary NYRA company.
• Maintains internal controls and risk management strategies to uphold financial integrity.
• Engages with cross-functional teams to drive improvements in accounting processes and reporting accuracy.
• Responsible for managing operational aspects of their team (e.g., workflow, performance, and compliance), as well as ensuring the achievement of team goals within established timelines and budgets.

Qualifications:

Education (minimum): CPA or MBA in Accounting
Experience: 8+ years public and/or private Accounting experience including managerial responsibilities.
Knowledge Requirements:
• Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
• Internal controls over financial reporting;
• Applicable laws, codes and regulations;
• Experience of related computer applications including Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Experience with SAP S4Hana Public Cloud and Blackline are preferred.

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This role is primarily sedentary and performed in an office or office-like environment with no special physical demands required. The position involves extended periods of sitting with intermittent standing and walking, as well as occasional bending, reaching, and other routine movements typical of a professional workplace.
The role requires regular hand manipulation, including daily typing and repetitive hand movements while working on a computer. Occasional light lifting (generally up to 10 lbs., and infrequently up to 30 lbs.) may be required.
The work environment does not typically expose the employee to hazardous conditions. There is minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as moving mechanical parts, fumes, extreme weather, or high-risk work areas. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.

Pay Range / Salary: 122,250.00 - $145,000.00
