Job Overview:
The Project Management Associate will support the execution of enterprise-level initiatives across the New York Racing Association (NYRA) by developing, documenting, and maintaining standardized operating procedures and best practices across multiple departments. The position will play a critical role in aligning operational processes with NYRA’s strategic plan and ensuring the organization is positioned for long-term operational excellence.
This role will work closely with senior leadership and department heads to identify operational efficiencies, codify institutional knowledge, and ensure that NYRA’s operating model reflects best-in-class standards across racing operations, security, facilities, guest services, and corporate functions.
A particular emphasis will be placed on supporting the operational transformation associated with the reopening of Belmont Park and the consolidation of downstate racing operations. The position will help ensure that processes are well documented, scalable, and consistently executed across the enterprise.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Planning & Organizational Alignment
Assist senior leadership in implementing and tracking key initiatives contained within NYRA’s strategic plan.
Translate strategic priorities into clearly defined operational workflows, documentation, and project plans.
Identify opportunities for improved cross-department coordination and operational efficiency.
Operational Analysis & Continuous Improvement
Evaluate current operational workflows to identify inefficiencies or gaps.
Develop systems for capturing institutional knowledge and operational documentation.
Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
Standard Operating Procedure Development
Draft, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across NYRA departments.
Work with department leaders to document workflows, responsibilities, escalation procedures, and compliance requirements.
Ensure SOPs reflect regulatory obligations including those related to:
New York State Gaming Commission regulations
Horse Racing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) rules
Internal NYRA operational policies and House Rules
Maintain a centralized repository of enterprise SOP documentation.
Project Management & Implementation
Support cross-functional projects involving multiple NYRA departments.
Coordinate project timelines, stakeholder meetings, deliverables, and reporting.
Assist in managing complex initiatives such as:
Belmont Park operational planning
Operational modernization efforts
Process improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree required.
2–5 years of experience in project management, operations, consulting, or strategic planning.
Experience developing operational documentation or Standard Operating Procedures preferred.
Experience working in complex operational environments such as sports venues, racing organizations, entertainment venues, hospitality operations, or regulated industries is highly desirable.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Exceptional written communication with the ability to produce clear, professional operational documentation.
Ability to work across departments and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and process discipline.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with project management tools and workflow systems preferred.
Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
This position is primarily sedentary in nature, including continuous computer work, primarily working indoors. The position requires continuous sitting and intermittent walking, standing, bending squatting and climbing.
Pay Range / Salary: $75,375.00 - $108,700.00
