Title: Seasonal Saratoga Gap Attendant

Job Overview:

The Gap Attendant assists clockers in identifying each horse that is intending to engage in a published workout by recording relevant information, including the name of the horse, distance of workout, and starting point of the workout. This workout information is communicated to the clockers who subsequently record the published workout.

Essential Functions:

Greet trainers and horses arriving for pre-race workouts;
Remains present at the entrance of the racetrack and records names of every horse and trainer reporting for a workout;
Records distance and reports the information to the Clocker;
Reports any exercise rider or trainer who refuses to supply required information to the Clockers Supervisor or the Stewards’ Office.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED
2 + years of horse racing industry experience, ideally on the backstretch

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This job is outside and involves a great deal of walking and standing.
Visual ability is required and hand eye coordination is required.

Pay Range / Salary:  $17.91
