Title: Telecommunication Technician

Job Overview:

Installs and maintains all aspects of communication systems including wire and cable, facilities and equipment, centralized and distributed telecommunications systems and all peripheral equipment. Provides technical system support and capabilities including, but not limited to, installation, maintenance, modification and repair of telecommunications equipment, products and/or systems.

Essential Functions:

  • PBX Maintenance and Support
    Perform routine maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of PBX systems to ensure uninterrupted communication services.
  • Manage extensions, call routing, voicemail, and other PBX features.
  • Monitor system performance and resolve any technical issues promptly.
    Installation of Equipment and Components
  • Perform physical installation of telecommunication and network equipment, including wiring, cabling, telephone instruments, IPTV systems, POS systems, and wagering tablets.
  • Ensure proper setup and testing of installed devices to confirm operational readiness.
  • Label and document all installed equipment and cables for future reference.
    Technical Infrastructure Repairs and Upgrades
  • Repair and replace faulty technical infrastructure cables, including Ethernet, fiber optics, and other connectivity components.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Perform upgrades to existing systems to meet evolving technical and business requirements.
    Contribute to the implementation of new technologies and infrastructure.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications or related technical field in a Racetrack environment.
Experience with PBX systems, wiring, cabling, and the installation of telecommunications equipment.
Familiarity with POS systems, IPTV, and wagering tablets (preferred).

Knowledge Required:
Knowledge of wiring and cabling standards (e.g., CAT5, CAT6, fiber optics).
Ability to install, configure, and repair telecommunication devices and infrastructure.
Familiarity with tools and equipment for cable testing, crimping, and termination.

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

This role requires regular movement throughout an active racecourse environment to inspect, install, maintain, and support telecommunications equipment. The position involves frequent walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting, as well as work in both indoor and outdoor settings across varied terrain. Work may be performed in operational areas during live events and in changing weather conditions, requiring situational awareness and adherence to safety protocols. The ability to navigate a large, fast‑paced facility and respond to issues in real time is essential.

Pay Range / Salary: $51.50 per hour
