Title: Contest Specialist, NYRA Bets

Job Overview:
The Contest Specialist, NYRA Bets will assist in the planning, execution, and administration of NYRA Bets handicapping contests to support the organization’s player engagement and promotional strategies. Applies foundational knowledge of contest operations, marketing, and customer engagement to execute procedures and plans for the assigned contests. Responsible for supporting player experiences, contest promotions, and operational activities to maximize participation and satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
Follows established guidelines to assist with the planning and execution of NYRA Bets contests, including Free-to-Play, paid entry, and promotional formats.
Supports contest marketing efforts by assisting with content creation, email campaigns, and social media scheduling.
Monitors contest calendars, rules, prize structures, and operational logistics.
Helps gather and organize player engagement data, feedback, and contest performance metrics to support reporting and analysis.
Assists in maintaining contest rules, calendars, and prize structures, ensuring alignment with organizational and regulatory standards.
Supports cross-functional teams, including Marketing, VIP/Key Accounts, Creative Services, and Customer Service, to ensure smooth contest operations.
Follows established processes to identify opportunities for improving contest execution, engagement strategies, and operational efficiency.
Assists in monitoring competitor contests and industry trends to provide insights for team discussions.
Qualifications:
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, sports management, or related field.
Experience: 2–4 years in marketing, promotions, contest operations, or customer engagement.
Ability to travel as needed to major contests
Ability to work in a customer facing role (approximately 40% of the time)
Other Requirements: Experience in managing events, contests, or customer-facing programs.
Preferred Skills:
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Familiarity with CMS platforms, email marketing tools, and social media scheduling tools.
Experience with customer segmentation and personalization platforms (e.g., Optimove) is a plus.
Knowledge of horse racing, sports betting, or gaming preferred.
Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The Contest Specialist role is primarily office-based, with work conducted at a computer for extended periods, requiring sitting, typing, and occasional use of a mouse or touchscreen. The position may involve some light mobility within the office for meetings or collaboration with teams. The work environment is professional and collaborative, with standard office noise levels, and may require occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekend hours during peak contest periods or major racing events. Standard ergonomic and safety practices apply.
Pay Range / Salary: $58,125.00 - $87,187.50
