Job Overview:
The Legal Intern will assist NYRA’s legal department with a variety of projects in conjunction with operational activities. The Legal Intern will be available to assist with any task as needed within the department and will have a chance to gain visibility from engaging with NYRA staff during their daily duties and job responsibilities.
Essential Functions:
Support & Research
• Assisting staff with daily tasks, research, data entry, and report preparation.
• Handling sensitive and confidential material.
Project Work
• Contributing to team projects and providing ideas for improvement.
• Updating databases and tracking corporate filings and legal documents.
Operations
• Organizing files, attending team meetings, and shadowing professionals
• Routing information to and from appropriate personnel across various departments.
Qualifications:
Preferred Skills:
• Intermediate level computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suites;
• Detail oriented with a strong sense of urgency and excellent organizational skills;
• Ability to multi-task, problem-solve and work well under pressure in a fast paced environment.;
• Strong interpersonal skills, team oriented and a positive demeanor in supporting multiple internal customers.
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Summary of Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
The position primarily involves sedentary office work, including prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and document review. The intern may occasionally be required to move files, lift light materials, and attend meetings across departments. The work environment is a professional office setting with standard business hours, which may require flexibility during peak racing or reporting periods.
